Taking cover is actually a useful strategy now, vs just running at the enemy and spamming your stimpak hotkey. A well armed and armored character can decimate groups of opponents in seconds, but they can do the same to you, if you aren't wary. Having access to better guns and armor will mean a huge advantage. In the Wasteland, victory is decided through superior firepower Super Mutants are actually the threat that the brotherhood makes them out to be, and super mutant patrols inside DC can AND WILL murder you, so be careful. You might think twice about running into a group of raiders, and Regulator/Talon ambushes can be deadly. Opponents are now much more dangerous than before. Animals have slightly different values, super mutants and deathclaws have innate damage resistance, and Robots are very well armored save for specific areas (which vary from robot to robot).

Limb shots now deal less damage than torso and head shots, but shots to the chest and head will deal more damage than before. Hit location data has also been changed for nearly every creature. In contrast, armor values have been increased, and certain armors (namely power armor) have additional protections against Radiation and Energy Weapons.

Miniguns and assault rifles will decimate targets in seconds, while single-shot weapons are more accurate allowing for better use at range. Automatic weapons are much more powerful than they were before. Using this mod will make combat much faster and more dangerous. Higher Damage and Better Protection is a simple mod that increases weapon damage, armor value, and alters hit location data to be more realistic.
